History of Royal Australian Air Force No. 79 Squadron in Thailand. No. 79 Squadron. In as a response to a threat to Thailand from across the Laotian border four member Nations of SEATO, the United States, Britain, New Zealand and Australia sent armed units to create a holding force to Thailand. After the First World War the AFC was disbanded, but in the Australian Air Corps was established, later becoming the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in Role of Air Force in World War Two. The Second World War saw aviation become even more instrumental in warfare.
